Conducting Formal Investigations – Senior Investigating Officer's Refresher Training

Target Audience: Those senior members of staff who have previously been designated as Investigating Officers and / or have previous experience of conducting investigations.
Aims of Programme: The aims of the programme are to refresh and up-date the existing knowledge, understanding, skills and competencies of Senior Investigating Officers by providing them with the opportunity to appraise the range of working models, tools and techniques associated with a logically planned and phased investigative framework, and of how these features and characteristics can be incorporated into their own repertoire of approaches to investigations. The opportunity extends through to all aspects of the assimilation and analysis of available evidence, and of the preparation and compilation of a professional management report with cogent and supportable recommendations. The opportunity is also taken to apprise participants of relevant legal and procedural up-dates.
Learning Style: The training is workshop-based and takes the form of facilitated learning. Particular attention is paid to valuing and validating the previous investigative experience of individual delegates whilst simultaneously achieving uniformity with the outcomes of both the Investigating Officers’ Foundation and Management Report Writing Workshops. The workshop is therefore highly interactive and participative as delegates articulate and share their own experiences, and work through the personal customisation of the models, tools and techniques presented to them.
Outcomes: Senior Investigating Officers who are more confident and competent to conduct investigations in the knowledge that they have been exposed to current best practice in the field of investigations and who, because of that and of the symmetry with the Investigating Officers’ Foundation and Management Report Writing Workshops, are able to provide personal and professional support to those less experienced Investigating Officers who will have recently completed both of these workshops. This is to ensure that the investigations which they undertake will meet all of the required standards and specifications of the overall judicial process within which all such investigations take place, thereby providing a demonstrably transparent and accountable process capable of scrutiny and upon which subsequent management decisions can be confidently referenced.
Proposed Dates: The programme is held throughout the year according to the needs of each client.
Number of Participants: Each workshop comprises a minimum of 5 and a maximum number of 10 delegates so as to ensure that the aims of the programme are fully met.
Duration of Programme: The programme is delivered in the form of a 1-day workshop.
Cost: The cost of the service is £1,200 for the 1-day workshop.
Provider: Fulcrum Training Services Ltd.
